I feel lucky to live in Bangkok, where the Thai people have their new king this month. Thailand is crowning a new king for the first time since 1950. His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun (King Rama X) inherits the throne from his father, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who passed away in October 2016.Thailand is observing a year of mourning during this time and people are advised to wear black clothing. His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun (King Rama X) ascended the throne in December, but the formal succession has been delayed until May 2019.

Thailand, well Bangkok especially, is full of yellow. Locals and foreigners alike celebrate the new King Rama X by wearing yellow. The streets and shopping malls smell so good, produced by Marigold Flower - representing good luck in Thailand - and The Golden Shower Tree - Ratchaphreuk in Thailand. Yellow is actually my favourite colour and it is the best time for me to express myself. My office sends out an email for all employees to wear yellow or bright colours to celebrate and respect the Thai people. Well, it is my pleasure.

The coronation took place over 3 days from 4 to 6 May 2019. I remember that on the 4th I wore a yellow Hush Puppies polo shirt, on the 5th I wore a mustard Mark and Spences t-shirt and on the 6th I wore a yellow Zara suit along with yellow Vans x Peanuts high top trainers. At the end of the period I go to Siam Paragon. The mall has never been so bright, I love the ambience. There is a huge screen between Siam Paragon and Siam Centre showing the coronation day at the Grand Palace.

I would not miss this moment. I captured some Thai people taking selfies, writing notes, watching the celebration outside and just standing still to look at how beautiful the flowers are. The Thai government is giving 2 days in a row of free travel on the BTS - Bangkok Train System. The officials are standing outside the gate to give the tickets to the citizens. I remembered that my IG feeds from Vogue Thailand Editor-in-Chief had uploaded some pictures of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya. She looked gorgeous and elegant in her golden attire to celebrate the coronation of her father. Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari is also a fashion designer and has her own label and was on the cover of Vogue Thailand, a special edition of Golden Era.
