I have nothing to wear.

The common phrase uttered by every young girl standing in front of her wardrobe, with dozens of dresses, shirts and jeans hanging there. You can't decide which one to wear to the mall, campus, or a date, and you're in different moods at different times. Here are some tips to help you overcome this urgency so that you don't ruin your quality time with your best friends, gain enough confidence in class, or get a compliment from your boyfriend by dressing effortlessly. There are essential dresses, t-shirts and trousers that you must have as a 'first aid kit' for those who don't have the time, ideas or budget to buy new ones. Some of the clothing brands I mentioned would be more like Uniqlo because they are basic, have better quality than other fast fashion brands and are committed to sustainability. These intangibles are important to consider as part of our buying behaviour today. You pay $15 for a T-shirt, but its colour fades and it stretches too much in the next 3 months, so you have to buy a new one and it sits in your closet for the rest of your life because you forgot to donate it, or you pay $30 for a T-shirt because it's cotton stretch, the neat stitching doesn't fade too quickly and you can wear it again and again in style.

First of all, you need to have white, black, grey and navy among your T-shirts. These are what you call 'base colours'. This doesn't mean that they are boring colours, but that they are easy to mix and match with all kinds of jackets, trainers, shoes, trousers and skirts. The T-shirt could go for formal or informal. For a formal look, wear it with colour-coordinated trousers or a skirt with a blazer and heels or wedges. I suggest for 5 cm height in maximum for comfort because beauty is no longer a pain as what people said. For a casual look, wear it with high-waisted jeans that make you look taller, or coloured cotton trousers with sporty white or coloured trainers. Wearing a repeat T-shirt - by repeat I mean wearing it twice a week - will not make people think you are out of stock because you have covered it with your additional cute jackets, bucket hat or attractive trainers.

Secondly, we are going to talk more about trousers and jeans. Everyone has jeans and colourful trousers, but generally they buy the same type of jeans or trousers over and over again, just in different colours. You may or may not have heard of common jeans such as boyfriend jeans, high-rise jeans and skinny ankle jeans. There are more types of jeans, but these three are probably the most sold in the shops. Boyfriend jeans are perfect for a fitted t-shirt because the shape of boyfriend jeans is loose enough. You don't want to make your body look bigger because of your oversized t-shirt. The perfect one, in my opinion, is the high-rise jeans. This can make you look taller and is suitable for your fitted or loose t-shirt because its high-rise type follows your body shape. Whatever your height, high-rise jeans will make you look chic. Lastly, skinny ankle jeans. Do not go wrong before you choose the fit. You should consider its shape while sitting and walking. It is completely shaped your legs that you need to prioritise a comfortable and proper look. It's fine with a fitted t-shirt, but I don't recommend it. The combination of a fitted t-shirt and skinny ankle jeans makes you look deliberately effortless and uncool. Unless you add something like a Japanese souvenir jacket, a sukajan or a baseball jacket. Skinny ankle jeans are best worn with a loose t-shirt and tucked in. The final touch is to be more playful with your sneakers.

Last but not least is the dress. Wearing black from head to toe is a fashion crime, but you still need a black dress and a coloured dress. To avoid looking like you are going to a funeral, a black dress should be paired with coloured shoes or some sort of hat. A black dress is fine for an evening or night time look and draws more attention to your make-up and also makes your skin lighter. It flatters your figure and helps you when you need a quick change that doesn't involve half an hour of fumbling around in front of your wardrobe. Plus, a colourful dress makes you look effortlessly cool while wearing only black or white trainers. The saying "less is more" is true. There is a point where a highly branded person looks tacky and a simple person looks great. If you want to look cool but highly branded, just choose one or two items that you want people to notice. For example, your limited edition trainers or a T-shirt with a slogan that you wear with your jeans or skirt. In general, there will be more stories related to the styling guide. The next story would be about mixing and matching.
